Member of the Black Hills Pack in Los Lobos, South Dakota, Jace Matthews is sent to check out the new owner of a piece of land adjoining his packs. Once he steps into her small bookstore in Collins, he’s taken by surprise by the small, prim woman behind the counter. At once, he recognizes his mate. While the wolf inside urges him to complete the bond, Jace knows he must take his time with his human mate. But when danger arises, threatening Michelle’s life, Jace is done waiting. It’s time to claim his mate.

After she inherits her aunt’s property, Michelle Sanders moves to Collins, South Dakota, to escape the monotony of her routine life. Unfortunately, the only person she manages to befriend is not only the hottest guy on the planet, but also gay. However, she never expects a favor for her sexy new friend to result in a series of weird events that will change her life forever.

This was a wonderful read. The characters were easy to like and the plot had me turning pages because I needed to find out what was going to happen.

Jace Matthews knew as soon as he seen Michelle Sanders that she was his mate. He wanted to mark her so everyone knew she was his and don't even try to mess with her. But he didn't want to scare her so he was moving slow and gaining her friendship before telling her she was his mate. It is his job to protect her and that is what he plans on doing. Besides protecting her, he needs to tell her he is a wolf, a shifter by another name.

Michelle Sanders is attracted to Jace Matthews but because of a big misunderstanding, she thinks females are not his type. She has fantasies about him most every night and she can't get him out of her mind. She is used to being alone but the feelings for Jace make her want to be his. I laughed out loud in parts of this book. Jace and Michelle are both trying to keep their feelings for each other hidden but secrets are hard to keep when someone is trying to kill Michelle and Jace is going to protect her.

This book had it all for me. Suspense, characters with a sense of humor and wanting to protect each other from harm. Not to mention some very hot sex! The details the author provides kept me totally interested and I only wanted more. Shifters, wolves, suspense and love in my opinion are the making of a great book. I can't wait to read more from this author.
